Rugby World Cup
The Rugby World Cupis the premier international union competition. It is held every four years, with 20 nations making it through to compete for the final and win the Webb Ellis Cup. It has two stages a group and a knock-out; initially nations are divided into four pools with five nations in each pool. Nations play all teams in their allocated pool and all receive points based on the outcome of each match. The two nations with the most points in each pool are put through to the knock-out quarter-finals. The winners of the four quarter-finals then go through to the semifinals, leading up to the final.
